More than 140 people in Houston, Texas have tested positive for COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated. That’s according to data provided by the city’s Health Department, which found those in question got infected more than two weeks after receiving the vaccine.

Health experts have said this is not unexpected because the vaccine is not 100 percent effective.

“Just like the flu shot, it’s important for people to realize everybody’s immune system is different; there will be a few rare individuals who will be infected after being vaccinated,” explained Dr. Wesley Long, Houston Methodist Hospital. “Now here’s the key point: if you’ve been vaccinated and are still infected, those infections by and large are incredibly mild compared to COVID-19 infection in unvaccinated individuals.”

Hundreds of others across multiple states, including Idaho, Florida. Michigan, Minnesota, South Carolina, and Washington, have become sick despite getting the coronavirus vaccine.
